Improving Your Credit

Everyone pretty much knows the situation in which the economy stands right now, and that certainly doesn’t help with fixing one’s credit score and re-establishing a positive credit score. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t several steps anyone can take on their own to greatly help with improving it.

The truth is, people nowadays think the only way to fix the credit problem is by using credit improving services provided by different companies or individuals. This may work for some but in most cases these people are just after your money and won’t really help or solve the issue for you on the long run. You may be asking yourself, as many people do, how long will it take to increase your credit score? Please understand that this process can’t possibly just take a few days, you need to have patience and understand the ins and outs of this process to actually benefit from it and solve your credit problem.

There are a few steps you can take on your own and that’s what we’ll talk about here. Without involving a 3rd party, you don’t run the risk of getting scammed and end up in a bigger hole than before.

First off, to improve your credit score you first need to get your hands on a copy of your credit report, and you can do this for free by contacting any of three major credit bureaus that are obligated to issue one upon your request. It should arrive pretty quickly, so you don’t have to wait long to get it.

When you do get your hands on it, analyze it thoroughly and find any possible errors that might appear on it. Believe it or not, errors are not at all uncommon on credit reports, and reporting them can be very beneficial to your current credit standing.

After this step is over, and if you’ve found several errors, your are already well on your way to improving your credit, but the process is still far from being complete. Don’t quit half way or you’ll be greatly disappointed with your results.

Next up is to generate as many positive transactions as possible, and you can do this by getting store cards which have a small credit line and can be paid back with ease. Make sure to pay this type of bill – and any other bill for that matter – in time, and it will appear as a positive transaction on your credit report. Even if you just owe 50 dollars, by paying them on time, it will reflect on your report and improve your credit standing.

This might take a bit of time, so please be patient, it can’t be done overnight. The whole process can take at least a couple of months, but isn’t it worth it if it finally solves your credit problems? Make a commitment to yourself to follow all the steps outlined, to start paying bills on time, to consolidate debts and to be more organized, to stop forgetting or misplacing bills and start repairing your credit.

Collecting Credit Information

A credit bureau is basically an agency that is in charge of collecting credit information about both individuals and businesses. In a nutshell, this agency takes all the information related to your credit history, your financial data, the public records and all other relevant information and creates something known as a credit report. Now, even though many people wrongly believe that a credit bureau simply has to be their enemy in the financial world, this couldn’t be further from the truth. What an agency like this does is they create a report on how a person or a business pays their debts, how often they get or do not get into financial trouble, and all the other information related to the financial aspect of one’s life or of a business. All of this is done in a strictly professional and unbiased manner, which implies that a credit bureau really has nothing to do with you receiving a bad credit report.

To start off, let’s just say that these agencies are there to help lenders determine who is eligible for a loan of any kind. What this means is that lenders or can easily determine whether you will get a loan or not, as well as how high your interest rates will be, by requesting your credit report from a credit bureau. Now, this really helps your creditors, but it can also help you if you understand the whole concept of credit reports, and if you do your best to make your credit report as good as it can be possible. The best way to do this is to be on time with all of your monthly payments.

Due to the fact that these financial agencies have to keep track of the financial information of more than 170 million people, there are over a thousand smaller and bigger credit bureaus all over the USA. However, all of these agencies are owned by the only three major US reporting agencies – Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. This means that all of these agencies will provide you with your free annual credit report, and this report is something that you should always take very seriously.

As it has already been mentioned, the three major credit bureaus are responsible for creating credit reports for more than 170 million people, which is a lot of reports. Owing to this fact, there is always a possibility that your report will contain some false information. However, even though this should be seen as something normal, you should always make sure to correct this mistake, as it can result in you not getting an important loan. Therefore, if and when you notice that some information in your annual credit report is not valid, you should contact the credit reporting agency immediately. In order to rectify this error, you will have to provide the agency with relevant proof to support your claim, which will result in the agency in question removing the false information from your credit report.

Credit Cards With Online Ordering Systems

In today’s fast paced and technology based society, credit cards are becoming more frequently used than cash. According to CreditCard.com, over 200 million people have at least one credit card with the average of people owning about 3.5 cards. Restaurants have evolved and taken advantage of this type of payment, but the process of using online ordering and credit card integration is sometimes confusing. Without knowledge of the process or how it works, restaurants could actually be hurting their business rather than helping it.

When a restaurant has an online ordering system the easiest way for customers to pay is by credit card. This means that the restaurant needs to connect its online ordering website to the bank that its uses. The way to do that is by using a gateway. This gateway is going to provide the security of the transaction information and the means of transporting that information to the bank.

This procedure is fairly simple, and Authrize.net spelled out the process perfectly. First, the customer will submit their card information for the purchase. The gateway will then pass the information to what is called the “processor”. The “processor” will then submit the purchase to the credit card network who sends the transaction to the customer’s bank. The bank will then decline or accept the transaction and sends the results back to the network. The network then sends the results back to the “processor” who sends the results to the gateway and finally back to the restaurant who completes the purchase with the customer. The customer’s bank will then send the funds to the credit card network who then sends it to the restaurant’s bank who deposits the funds into the restaurant’s account.

The benefit of this is that restaurants do not have to create an infrastructure for the transactions as this is difficult for them to do. The gateway will do this all for them and it makes it easier on the restaurant. The restaurant does not have to install software and they can manage their accounts through the gateway to make any changes. The gateway also checks to see if the card number is valid and if there is enough money in the account. The down side is that the gateway and the bank sometimes take a small percentage from the sales for themselves out of the transaction.

With the addition of credit card processing to a restaurant’s online ordering system the restaurant will make it more convenient for customers to purchase online. This means that customers may have the inclination to purchase more and do so more often, increasing purchase frequency. Overall, credit card integration is something that restaurants with online ordering systems should include in their system to reap the benefits it provides.
